How to Create Covid-19 Awareness with Social Media Visuals
What should your brand communicate amid the Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis? Should your brand communicate at all? Will any marketing message be seen as opportunistic or insensitive? These are the questions that every business is currently grappling with.
In order to strike the right chord with your audience, you need to first acknowledge the current state, spread awareness and be empathetic. But where to begin, you might ask.
Start with social media and use it to your advantage! Amid Covid-19 lockdowns, people are undoubtedly spending more time on their phones. Apple reports a significant increase in the average person’s iPhone Weekly Screen Time. People have been actively posting images or videos that reflect their #QuarantineLife on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Use relevant stock illustrations or graphics
Picking the right visuals for your Covid-19 social media campaigns is absolutely imperative. You can find plenty of relevant images using keywords such as Stay Home, Quarantine and Coronavirus. But if you’re not keen on using stock images, you can always create your own visuals – in just a few easy steps!
Search for SVG images that are suitable for your design needs
If you want to create your own Covid-19 social media template but don’t want the hassle of designing from scratch, then look no further – Graphicmaker is the tool for your design needs.
Type in the keyword of your choice in the search bar.
Once you’ve picked an illustration, simply click on the file format of your choice – it’ll download automatically. But if you want to customize the illustration to reflect your brand identity, click on Edit.
You can easily change the colors to match your campaign message. For a Covid-19 awareness campaign, it’s best to go for a somber palette. Dark turquoise or cyan conveys graveness, whereas bright red channels urgency. Once you’re pleased with the results, click Download PNG.
Use accurate information from credible sources
The impact of the Covid-19 outbreak has been compounded by inaccurate medical information, stoking fear and anxiety. Hence, it is crucial to obtain information from reliable sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Combine visual and text
Once you’ve got what you need, it’s time to put everything together. Go to Pixlr X and click on Create New.
After picking the dimensions and the background color of your choice, simply click Create.
Go to the last icon in the toolbar that says Add Image, click Browse and open the PNG file you’ve downloaded earlier.
You can scale it to your desirable size and move it anywhere around the artboard. You can even duplicate it! Arrange your duplicates symmetrically to form a cohesive pattern. Click on the Text icon to add new text. Type out your title in the text box. Play around with different typefaces – it’s always fun to mix and match. For instance, you can match Sans serif with Serif. Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, go for a Sans serif and Script or Decorative combination. You can add a depth-filled drop-shadow effect to your text. After you fill in the rest of the information, feel free to rearrange the placements of each text box, adjust the font size and spacings.
And there you have it – your very own Covid-19 social media template!
