In today\u2019s tutorial, we\u2019re going to show you how to create a surreal winter wonderland artwork with <\/span>Pixlr<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Set your background<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For this artwork, we want to create a magical frozen wonderland within a \u201csnow globe,\u201d so we will be starting off with a photo of a frozen bubble.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Start layering<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Now that we have our background, we\u2019re going to layer another image above it. Here, we\u2019ve chosen an image of snow-covered trees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019d have to readjust the size of the image and reposition it to fit within the \u201csnow globe.\u201d Once you\u2019re happy with the size and positioning, you can move the image layer to the very bottom – <\/span>hidden behind the background<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, go to your frozen bubble image, click on the <\/span>Cutout\/Mask<\/span><\/i> feature and choose the <\/span>Draw Mask<\/span><\/i>. Make sure the brush is soft, has a low opacity, and most importantly <\/span>Removes from Mask<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you have your brush, you can start gently dabbing across the frozen bubble to reveal the trees underneath it.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can see how certain parts of the frozen bubble are starting to vanish and the trees which you\u2019ve hidden are beginning to emerge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve accidentally removed too much of the frozen bubble, you can always switch your brush to <\/span>Add to Mask.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A snow globe isn\u2019t really complete without a snow-capped mountain. So after placing trees into our frozen bubble, it\u2019s time to add a mountain layer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly to the tree image, you\u2019d have to readjust and reposition your mountain layer to ensure it fits within the frozen bubble. Once you\u2019re satisfied with it, move it to the very bottom.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apply the same method to the tree layer by gently removing some parts of it to reveal the peak of the mountain.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Let it snow, let it snow!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Now it wouldn\u2019t be called a winter wonderland if it weren\u2019t snowing, would it? <\/span><\/p>\n

Simply go to <\/span>File <\/span><\/i>> <\/span>Browse Elements<\/span><\/i> > <\/span>Overlay<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scroll all the way down until you see<\/span> Weather<\/span><\/i>. Click on it and choose your favorite snowy overlay.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can always adjust the opacity of the overlay to your liking. <\/span><\/p>\n

4. Oh deer!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This step is completely optional, but we just feel that the entire piece is lacking a little woodland magic and would like to add an animal to the artwork.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, we\u2019ve chosen a photo of a white-tailed deer. We\u2019ve already removed the background by using our favorite<\/span> AI Auto<\/span><\/i> cutout tool.<\/span><\/p>\n

To make sure the deer blends in with the rest of the artwork, you\u2019d need to readjust its temperature by dragging it to the left and making it appear \u201ccooler.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, duplicate the deer and reposition it so that the two deer are parallel to each other. <\/span><\/p>\n
