A montage, also known as photomontage, is a type of image editing in which multiple photos are trimmed and combined to form a new image. Traditionally, magazine editors cut up printed images and created layouts for publications before digital design software existed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But now, with advanced design software like <\/span>Pixlr<\/span><\/a>, you can quickly bring imaginative scenes to life using existing imagery without the hassle of paper cuts and pasting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, we\u2019ve chosen a landscape image of a wildflower meadow against a clear blue sky.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Go to <\/span>Pixlr E<\/span><\/a> and click on <\/span>Open Image<\/span><\/i> or <\/span>Create New<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>3. Start masking & layering<\/span><\/h3>\n

You may begin the masking process now that you have your background image. We\u2019re using the <\/span>Magic Mask<\/span><\/i> to remove the clear blue sky from the landscape so that we can add our desired background to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We\u2019re now adding a second image\/layer to the landscape – it is an image of an open door with the center cut out.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>To make the doorway look more naturally <\/span>blended<\/span><\/i> into the background, we\u2019re using a<\/span> Draw Mask<\/span><\/i> with a soft, low opacity brush to remove some parts of the door.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>To turn the doorway into a portal and create the illusion of walking through it into another dimension, we\u2019re adding a new layer behind the door – an image of a beach.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Once again, we\u2019re using the<\/span> Draw Mask <\/span><\/i>to remove some parts of the beach image and soften the edges.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Now that we\u2019ve added layers to the foreground, it\u2019s time to add our new background. Here, we\u2019ve chosen an image of a seashore to be added to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>4. Make adjustments to each image<\/span><\/h3>\n

When creating a montage, it\u2019s essential to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout the images. They must have the same exposure, contrast, highlights, temperature, tint, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>If you want to add a filter\/preset to one of the images, you\u2019d have to use the same preset on all images.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For instance, we\u2019re using the <\/span>Style<\/span><\/i> preset in the <\/span>Effect Library <\/span><\/i>for the beach image. We\u2019d need to apply a similar amount of the same preset to the other layers to ensure everything looks stylistically consistent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>5. Export your montage in your desired format<\/span><\/h3>\n

Once you\u2019re happy with your montage, you must save it in your desired format, i.e., JPG, PNG, WebP, or even PXZ.<\/span><\/p>\n
